During his highly productive NFL career, which included five NFC championship game appearances for the Philadelphia Eagles and a memorable Super Bowl XXXIX duel with Tom Brady, Donovan McNabb had a knack for blocking out the noise. From being booed on draft day to getting stigmatized by Rush Limbaugh to being one of the league’s first prominent black quarterbacks, McNabb never had it easy--but he maintained a healthy perspective and did a whole lot of smiling. In this spirited conversation with a journalist who witnessed a lot of it (and his impressionable daughter), McNabb reflects on his journey and looks ahead to Super Bowl LV, as his former coach, Andy Reid, tries to win a second consecutive Lombardi Trophy. McNabb also voices strong opinions about Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, Chiefs offensive coordinator (and head coaching candidate) Eric Bieniemy and 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Every child deserves the chance to get in the game, but more than 200,000 American children are sidelined with type 1 diabetes. Kid-stuff like, sports, sleepovers, and camp just aren't possible. Donovan McNabb played 13 years in the NFL and was the first NFL quarterback ever to throw for more than 30 touchdowns and fewer than 10 interceptions in a season. He's best known for his time with the Philadelphia Eagles where he was a 6-time Pro Bowler, but he also played for the Washington Redskins and the Minnesota Vikings. We talk about how he started to make the transition to life after football after just a few seasons in the league.

McNabb has made it his mission to support all youth for success in life especially through all kinds of sports. Jasmin is the first Chicagoan ever to be accepted into the world-renown Kibbutz Dance Company in Israel and was tasked with raising $15,000 for tuition. $2,500 short of meeting her goal, in stepped Chicago-native Donovan McNabb – he surprised Jasmin via video message to offer encouragement and sponsor the remainder of the funds needed for the opportunity at Kibbutz Dance Company.

Donovan McNabb Foundation put on their annual Christmas party for the mothers and children at a local women's shelter. They donate toys for the kids and gifts for the kids to pick out and wrap for their moms.

Donovan Mcnabb and his family returned to the Virtua Voorhees McNabb Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with their children who were all born at this same nicu. They returned there to visit and thank the nurses and doctors!
